Tired
I worked from 8 to 8 today. What a miserable way to spend a Friday :(
The daily journal of a student at The University of Texas at Austin.
So, Teresa tagged me. I'm going to try to fill this out. I always have a problem with them, especially 'favorites' things. I don't have a lot of favorites, or maybe I just can't remember them :)
I finally have a meeting with my advisor tomorrow morning at 9:30. I have to talk to her about studying abroad, graduating early, and grad school. I'm hoping by 10 when the meeting is over I will have some answers, mainly whether or not I can graduate early. I've been thinking about all this stuff in my future, so I've been pretty disconnected from the present. As Heather said, "You've been really out of it lately." It's true. When I finally get some semblance of a concrete plan for my next few years I can finally settle into this semester and realize I'm way behind! Oh well. I have to plan don't I?
So, I've been to all my classes now. I really like them all. The professor in industrial psychology is a little boring, but I think I'll like the material. Leadership Issues will be fun. My professors in Motivation and Human Resources Management are funny. This should be a good semester. Lately I've been arguing with myself about several issues, including studying abroad in New Zealand this summer, what to do with the rest of the summer, whether or not to graduate early, whether or not to go to grad school, and if I do go what school to go to and what degree to pursue. All of these decisions are very intertwined and I need to decide fast. As you can see I've been very busy thinking lately!
Here are some pictures I took on campus right after the Rose Bowl :) They're all pretty blurry because I took them with my phone. Sorry. Let me know what you think about my excellent photography-by-phone skills. Haha.
I hate the roads in Austin! I accidentally explored some new areas of Austin while trying to find the new location of the bank we use at work so I could make a deposit. A simple exit and U-turn off of Mo Pac became a weird series of stop signs, lights, connecting roads and neighborhoods right in the middle of everything. It makes no sense at all to me.
#1 - I did absolutely nothing except sleep, eat, and wash clothes today. I didn't even go outside.
...in case you didn't already know!
As I promised, here are the details of the chaos on campus after the game last night. Right after the game I grabbed my keys and left. As I got closer to campus, the traffic got heavier and everyone was honking and yelling out their windows. I got a couple high fives out my window from people running down the middle of the road. There were tons of people hanging out of car windows and sitting in the backs of trucks, but I saw one guy standing on top of a car yelling as it was driving down the road. They had the drag blocked off because that's where most of the people were. While I was walking around on campus I heard at least 6 helicopters fly over in about 30 minutes. There was a line to get in to the Co-op and it was shoulder-to-shoulder on the whole first floor. They were already out of shirts though. They were supposed to be getting a new shipment of shirts at 2 am. There were news cameras all over the place recording all the craziness. Anyway, needless to say I didn't get much sleep last night. When I finally did go to bed, I couldn't go to sleep. I was really tired at work today, but it was definitely worth it! In honor of the win I had to wear burnt orange to work today, but I didn't have anything other than burnt orange t-shirts. So, I wore black dress pants, black high heels, and my Rose Bowl t-shirt. It was awesome. It was all awesome.
Austin is the greatest place in the world to be right now. I'll describe the festivities on campus in my next post. It was crazy!!
Reason #1: It was 70 degrees outside today...in January.
Well, I'm back in Austin to work for 2 weeks before class starts. Christmas was good. My dad's family came to our house on Christmas day. We spent Christmas Eve with my mom's family. I spent 2 nights with Heather when she went back to Beaumont. I got to see the nice part of Beaumont. I was surprised there was a nice part. I had never seen it before. I spent all my gift cards while I was there, so we did a lot of shopping. Parkdale Mall brings back lots of memories. Fellow RBB alumni know what I'm talking about. I spent New Year's at my house with Christiana, Ellen, and Travis. Christiana and I went to Troy's house for a little while to say hi to her sister. Overall, I had a good break. Now, I'm just waiting for tomorrow...Rose Bowl!
